Welcome To Apocalyptic Sisters!

Apocalyptic Sisters is the creation of two sisters who happen to also be, best friends. When we started Apocalyptic Sisters, we always hoped it would become not just about us as sisters. Instead, we thought of the community of sisters, we would create through sharing. Apocalyptic Sisters is not just about us, but about all of us!

Our  Story

Ever since we were little, we have always loved spending time together and making things with our hands. We grew up in a non-traditional family, which helped make us who we are today, quirks and all. We love spending time together so much we used to run a business for someone else. Yep, just the two of us, in an office doing “the thing.” That didn’t pan out. Here we are today, stepping out and starting something big!

Apocalyptic Sisters came to us years ago when we were out of town working. Casey, being obsessed with The Walking Dead was determined to come up with a name that reflected her passion. Her love for the zombie apocalypse and doing things for yourself is what fueled the inspiration. From there we created our Instagram account with the idea of sharing our musings. We had no idea what we were doing or where we were heading.

Fast forward 4 years later and here we are. Our hope is that Apocalyptic Sisters will be a resource for you. That it will be a place to find inspiration in maintaining a lifestyle of wellness. Sustainability is always at our core, not only in terms of the earth, but our mind, body, and spirit as well.

Person getting on a plane

Meet Casey

Casey and her beautiful wife live in a 1914 farmhouse with their dog Percy, 3 cats, and two chickens. From an early age, she has always been a fixer, from taking apart the T.V. and putting it back together to now installing all-new ducts under the crawlspace. Nothing is beyond her grasp. she is an avid lover of nature and all things outdoors. At the age of 10, she spent the whole summer outside in a tent (in the backyard). Casey’s passions include writing, brewing beer, roasting coffee, cooking, smiling, and camping, just to name a few. Her idol is Jane Goodall and the very reason she wants to make a difference in the world! Her hope is that this blog will be just the thing someone needs.

Meet Nikki

Nikki and her family of rambunctious boys live in a 1700s “work in progress” farmhouse with their dog Luna, 3 cats, and two chickens. She has always lived by her famous quote, “it’s people, not things.” During childhood, she began coming up with her own language, that no one else understands but her, as well as singing songs to the tune of talking about what was happening around her. For example, “We are driving in the car and it is storming outside.” Nikki enjoys quiet days on the farm just taking nature in and observing the way the day unfolds as well as being an observer of life. Her passions include being a mother, crafting, taking pictures (of Casey at her desk), baking, live music, watching movies, and scrambling to take that one hot sip of coffee before it gets cold!

Our hope is that you will find some solace here, a calm place to come for inspiration. Maybe you will find your purpose or maybe just some peace and a good laugh. Laughter is the best medicine and we’re full of ridiculousness. Whatever you find, we’re glad you’re here!
